How to stay safe meeting a buyer
- Get the quote in writing first. Itemized, per box. A buyer who will not put it in writing is telling you something.
- Meet in public if you prefer. A well-lit store lot, a library, a town green. Every one of our city pages lists local spots. No legitimate buyer will object.
- Expect a written record. A real buyer gives you a record of the sale — what was bought, what was paid, and when. That is a good sign, not an obstacle.
- Be paid before they leave. Cash, Zelle or CashApp, in hand, at the meeting.
- Do not accept a revised price at the door unless the buyer can show you exactly which box failed and why.
